I want to obtain a copy of a private road approach permit that ingresses or egresses from a County Road. Am I legally entitled to ask for a copy of the permit? Are road permits a matter of public record?

sure, go to city or county hall and ask.

Yes. If the city or county having jurisdiction in the area took an action approving the approach permit, the record of the action is available to the public. The appropriate agency to contact would be either public works or planning/resource management, depending on your location.

If you have made the request and were denied, the application may be pending, the subject of litigation, or you asked the wrong agency. You could also make a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
